Now to the spare and close-up music we pulled together for the film.

We had neither time nor resources for an original score, but those limitations sent me to a 'found-art' version of best-case-scenario.

The music is not 'found-art' like a rusty object fallen off a truck (although I do love rusty objects). It's more like the materialized dream of wishing so deeply for a set of Turner works on paper that you find one in a mysterious yard sale at the far end of a meadow. With the brilliant touch of Suzana Perić, music editor, we built a score of tracks from Everyday Robots — Damon Albarn’s extraordinary solo album which he produced with Richard Russell in 2014.

I was already hooked on Damon Albarn’s music, years before, when a bunch of us flew to Spoleto to see his operatic adaptation of Wu Cheng’en’s novel, Monkey: Journey to the West, created with Chen Shi-Zheng and Jamie Hewlett.

For Write When You Get Work, we used instrumental versions of six tracks from Everyday Robots. This page provides you with links to hear those tracks with vocals, as they are on the album.

Links are also below to check out PAULi., Junk SonAutumn Defense, and the Blur track that ends the movie, or listen via this Spotify playlist.
